Eligibility for Accommodation
Applicants must meet residency criteria as per Sturgeon Foundation Policy.
- Must be 65 years or older.
- Couples are recognized as a senior citizen household where at least one (1) family member is 65 years of age or over.
- Persons under 65 years of age who are appropriate to the housing accommodation being applied for and who demonstrate the circumstances of a "senior citizen household" may be considered if vacancies exist and there is no wait list.
- Must be functionally independent, able to manage personal care, hygiene and daily life activities.
- For Lodge residency ~ must be suitable for a community living environment.
- For Self-contained tenancy ~ must be suitable for independent living in a seniors setting.
Accommodation Priority
- Priority is given to low income seniors and applicants within the Foundation's requisitioning area.
- Priority is based on a point scoring system which assesses accommodation needs.
How to Apply for Residency
- Complete an application form (available at each lodge or on-line).
- Set up an appointment for an interview and tour of the facility.
- To apply you must meet eligibility criteria.
- Upon establishing eligibility of applicant, the Manager will place an applicant on the waiting list according to the Priority Rating Criteria.
- Applicant will be notified when a unit becomes available.
- If an applicant refuses a unit, their name will be removed from the waiting list and they must wait three (3) months prior to reapplying.
- Assessment as to suitability for independent living is required; a Confidential Medical Report
form is provided by the Foundation.
