Mission

"To Provide Affordable, Supportive Living For Seniors and Other Clients
Within A Respectful and Secure Social Environment".

About Us

Sturgeon Foundation is a non-profit management body established in 1962 by Ministerial Order to provide subsidized housing for seniors. The Foundation is governed by a Board of Directors which consists of representatives from each supporting municipality: City of St. Albert, Sturgeon County, Towns of Bon Accord, Gibbons, Legal, Morinville and Redwater. Sturgeon Foundation manages seniors housing facilities in all these locations and offers two different living options: Independent Living (Self-contained units) and Supportive Living (Lodge units).

Independent Living

Independent living is available for seniors who are independent, in good health, and able to manage their own meals and housekeeping. Each self-contained unit consists of a kitchenette, living room, bedroom, bathroom and storage area. Free on-site laundry equipment is available.

Supportive Living

Experience the privacy of your own residence without living alone!
Lodge living is an affordable alternative for independent seniors wishing or needing the components of socializing, security, prepared meals, and light housekeeping. The private residences are fully furnished with a 3 piece bath, emergency call system, and are wheelchair accessible. The lodge offers free laundry equipment, spacious common areas, a main dining room, bath assist room, beautiful landscaped yards, respite accommodation, and a variety of social activities are provided.

Security

Lodges have caring and friendly employees on duty 24 hours a day. The environment is safe and accessible with emergency call systems in each unit.

Housekeeping

Weekly light housekeeping with towel and linen services are provided in the lodges.

Social & Leisure Activities

Enjoy the opportunities to meet people, make new friends and enjoy new experiences!
An active, independent lifestyle is promoted through a qualified Program Coordinator along with organized, trained volunteers. Residents can be as independent as they are able and a monthly calendar of events provides residents with the opportunity to participate. A full range of programs is offered including exercise programs, trips, socials, entertainments, and special functions. Families and friends are encouraged to visit and participate in scheduled activities.

Dietary

Three delicious homemade meals a day are offered along with 24 hour snacks and beverages. Meals are served buffet style in a central dining room. Food service employees are trained in healthy food preparation techniques. Guests are charged a nominal fee for meals and snacks.

Parking

Parking space is available at a nominal monthly fee.

Rental Rates

Rental rates are subsidized and established by the Foundation in line with Alberta Government Guidelines. See the page on "Rents" for further information.

On-Site Community Services Available for Lodge Residents

Church services, hair salon, personal laundry services, foot care, hearing aid specialists, blood pressure clinics, physicians, optometrists, and various other service providers attend the lodge. Home Care attends the lodge to provide services as required, such as medication assistance, bathing, dressing assistance and personal care.
